Australia Comments on the Likelihood of Participation in a Peacekeeping Mission in Ukraine.
The Australian government will consider proposals for sending peacekeepers to Ukraine and possibly joining a European coalition upon receiving an official request. This was stated by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during a press conference in Sydney.
According to him, the Australian government is already participating in international discussions about the possibility of deploying peacekeeping forces in Ukraine. 'We are open to any proposals in the future,' emphasized Albanese.
He also highlighted that Australia actively supports Ukraine's efforts to counter Russian aggression and is interested in establishing peace in Ukraine. 'We do not want a repetition of Russian aggression,' added the Prime Minister.
Albanese stated that if his country receives a request regarding the sending of peacekeepers to Ukraine, it will be considered.
It should be noted that Australia has already provided military assistance to Ukraine amounting to 1.4 billion dollars.
