The Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported on the successful achievements in reducing the area of mined territories in Ukraine. According to him, these territories now cover about 137 thousand square kilometers, which is 20% less compared to previous figures.

Among the territories that are subject to demining, agricultural lands prevail. The demining work is carried out by the State Emergency Service, the police, the Ministry of Defense, and other organizations. Currently, 112 certified operators are involved in the work, including 8 foreign ones, who have personnel, equipment, and specialized tools at their disposal.

'Currently, there are 112 certified operators working in the market, including 8 foreign ones. They have more than 9 thousand personnel, 278 machines for demining and land works, and over 13 thousand metal detectors,' Shmyhal emphasized.

Register of contaminated territories and international funding

The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of creating a Register of contaminated territories and developing a plan to attract international funds for demining activities. He mentioned support from international partners amounting to 1.2 billion dollars for demining in Ukraine, which is critically important for the country’s recovery.

The government report highlighted positive results in ensuring the safety of citizens and restoring affected regions through the reduction of mined territories.
