Poll: French Support the Return of Military Service.

French Support the Return of Military Service
According to the poll, 86% of people in France express support for the return of military service. However, only 53% of respondents support mandatory military service. 32% of them would support mandatory military service for both women and men, while 21% would support mandatory service only for men. One third of respondents prefer voluntary military service.
There are the most objections to this prospect among the younger generation under 35, although 78% of them still support the idea of military service. But only 41% of them want it to be mandatory.
There is also a noticeable difference between genders. 39% of men support mandatory military service for women and men, compared to 26% of women. On the other hand, 24% of women support mandatory service only for men, compared to 19% of men.
This gender disparity is of little significance among young people. In fact, young men and women share similar perceptions. For example, 17% of men aged 18-24 and 16% aged 25-34 support mandatory military service only for men, compared to 20% and 15% of women aged 18-24 and 25-34, respectively. The difference becomes more noticeable among the older generation.
Citizens of France support the return of military service, but not necessarily compulsory.
