According to the State Border Guard Service, Russian troops will attempt to establish themselves in the area of the villages Novenke and Zhuravka in the Sumy region. The enemy plans to encircle the Ukrainian defense forces conducting operations in Kursk region, said the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service Andriy Demchenko.
'The length of the border within Sumy region on the border with Russia is almost 530 km. And the situation regarding the direction of the two settlements, namely Novenke and Zhuravka, is of the greatest interest to citizens. Indeed, in recent times, the enemy has been trying to take certain actions there to expand the zone of active hostilities already on the territory of Ukraine. To this end, it is using small assault groups attempting to enter our territory. Most likely, the enemy aims to try to encircle the defense forces of Ukraine located in Kursk region, as the direction of these settlements is literally the edge of the territory within Kursk where Ukrainian military forces are conducting their operations. Or they aim to cut off logistics routes in this way,' Demchenko noted.
However, a significant grouping of Russian troops in the Sumy region is not currently observed. 'In some cases, we see that these groups also attempt to use ATVs, as their goal is to advance into the territory of Ukraine as quickly and deeply as possible with the aim of establishing themselves, waiting for support, accumulating and expanding the area of hostilities,' Demchenko added.
