The US Congress to Consider Recognizing Russian Aggression as Genocide of the Ukrainian People.

Bill to Recognize Kremlin's Actions as Genocide in Ukraine Introduced to the US Congress
The first bill concerning Ukraine and calling for the recognition of Kremlin's actions as genocide in the war against it has been introduced to the lower house of the US Congress, the 119th session. This was reported by Ukraine's Ambassador to Washington Oksana Markarova.
Markarova noted that the House of Representatives of the US Congress has reintroduced a resolution calling for the recognition of Russia's actions against Ukraine as genocide. She also adds that Russia commits crimes against Ukraine every day.
'In the first week of its work, Congress focused on the fact that Russia commits crimes every day in its war against Ukraine. A resolution has been reintroduced to the House of Representatives of the US Congress calling for the recognition of the RF's actions against Ukraine as genocide,' said the ambassador.
According to Markarova, the document indicates that the crimes committed by Russian troops in Ukraine, including attacks on civilians and medical facilities, as well as the forcible transfer of Ukrainians to Russia and occupied territories, meet the criteria for genocide under the UN Convention.
The main part of the resolution condemns Russia for the genocide of the Ukrainian people and calls on the US and NATO to take action to support the Ukrainian government and prevent further genocide. The document also supports the establishment of tribunals and international investigations to hold Russians accountable for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
