Cannes Film Festival 2025: Jury Announces Winners.

The jury of the main competition of the 78th Cannes Film Festival, led by Juliette Binoche, announced the winners. According to Le Monde, this is the first Time in the festival's history.

The Iraqi film 'Cake for the President' directed by Hassan Hadi made its debut and won the 'Golden Camera' prize. The 'Palme d'Or' went to the film 'Simple Accident' by Iranian director Jafar Panahi.

Grand Prix

• 'Sentimental Value' (dir. Joachim Trier).

Best Director Award

• Kleber Mendonça Filho ('Secret Agent').

Jury Prize

• 'Sound of Falling' (dir. Masha Shilinski).
• 'Sirat' (dir. Oliver Lux).

Best Male Performance

• Wagner Moura ('Secret Agent').

Best Female Performance

• Nadia Melliti ('Younger Dernière').

Best Screenplay

• 'Young Mothers' (Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne).

Special Jury Prize

• 'Resurrection' (dir. Bi Gan).

'Golden Camera' for Best Debut

• Hassan Hadi ('Cake for the President').

Best Short Film

• 'I’m Glad You Died' (dir. Taufik Barkhom).

It should be noted that during the Cannes Film Festival, U2 frontman Bono appeared on the red carpet alongside Sean Penn and Ukrainian soldiers, expressing gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for defending Europe’s freedom.
