The Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War has launched a new digital tool in test mode that allows Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, released from Russian captivity, to transmit important information about those who still remain in captivity. This is intended to speed up their release process.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters on Monday, July 21.

What is known about the new platform

According to the developers' idea, the platform is designed to become not only a means of data exchange but also to help identify missing persons. Released Ukrainians will be able to provide known information about their comrades or civilians who remain in captivity at a convenient Time and in a calm environment, and also to supplement it later.

Currently, the functionality is only available for recently released individuals, but in the future, it will be opened to all who have endured Russian captivity during the war. Families of the captives are also encouraged to fill out personal accounts on the platform as completely as possible by adding photos and other materials that will assist in identification.

The first results of testing indicate a high effectiveness of the initiative:

  • the whereabouts and condition of 281 prisoners, both military and civilian, have been established;
  • 860 cases of inadequate detention conditions have been reported;
  • new detention locations for 34 individuals have been identified;
  • the whereabouts of 187 prisoners have been confirmed.

The Coordination Headquarters emphasizes that work on improving the platform continues, and functionality is gradually being scaled for all released Ukrainians.

Recall that on Friday, July 4, Ukraine and Russia conducted another stage of exchanging prisoners of war. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, State Border Guard Service, and State Special Transport Service, as well as civilians, returned home.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that since the beginning of June this year, hundreds of Ukrainians have been able to return to their homeland.

The provided text reports on the launch of a new digital tool for prisoners of war that will help Ukrainian soldiers and civilians who were released from Russian captivity to transmit important information about those left in captivity. The platform will allow for faster releases of prisoners and the establishment of locations and conditions of individuals. After successful testing, the functionality will be available to all released Ukrainians, and work on improving the tool continues.
