Ukrainian player Volodymyr Ananiev died during a hockey match. The incident took place in Russia, in the Arkhangelsk region. The man collapsed on the ice in the 19th minute of the game and died in the hospital. The cause of death is still unknown, the police are conducting an investigation. The Hockey Federation of the Arkhangelsk region broadcasted the match live.
Additionally, Nigerian boxer Gabriel Olarewaju died after the fight. He collapsed in the third round. The athlete was quickly taken to the hospital, but they were unable to save him. Olarewaju had 23 fights, winning 13, losing 8, and having two draws. A representative of the Nigerian Boxing Board described Olarewaju as a fearless fighter who died in the ring.
