Uzbekistan invests in tourism: new hotels and country development
Tourism is developing in Bukhara, a city on the Silk Road. New hotels are appearing at every turn. The tourist center of Samarkand is also undergoing changes thanks to the investments of billionaire Bakhtiyor Fazilov. The government of Uzbekistan is actively investing in the tourism sector in accordance with the country’s developed strategy until 2030. The goal is to increase the number of foreign tourists to 15 million and expand the hotel and service offerings for tourists.
However, some projects face criticism. The project 'Eternal Bukhara' is discussed with dissatisfaction since locals were not involved in the project's development, as well as due to the loss of architectural monuments. The development of tourism in Uzbekistan could have both economic and cultural aspects.
