Occupants acknowledged torturing American propagandist to death in Donetsk.

The preliminary investigation of a criminal case regarding the murder of the American Russell Bentley in the Donetsk region is completed in Russia. Bentley cooperated with the propaganda agency Sputnik. Four Russian military personnel are accused of severe violence, as well as an attempt to cover up the murder. This information was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
Depending on the role of each, they are accused of committing actions as a group that clearly exceed their authority, using physical violence and torture, which led to the death of the victim due to negligence, as well as concealing an extremely serious crime by moving the deceased's remains to another place (part 5 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, item "a" of part 2 of article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, part 4 of article 33 and part 2 of article 316 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)
According to the investigation, on April 8, 2024, military personnel Vitaliy Vantsytskiy, Vladislav Agaltsov, and Andriy Yordanov tortured Bentley to death. After that, they dismantled the vehicle with the American's body and scooter. The next day, on the instructions of Vantsytskiy, another military member of the same unit, Volodymyr Baykin, hid the deceased's remains.
According to one of Bentley's associates, the Russian military personnel "considered him a spy", writes the Telegram channel "Beware, news".
