The Dutch right-wing populist 'Party for Freedom' (PVV) decided to leave the government in protest. PVV founder Geert Wilders announced his party's departure from the government, leading to the collapse of the coalition. Five ministers and four state secretaries will also leave the government along with PVV representatives. This was reported by the publication Der Telegraaf.
The decision was made due to the refusal of allies to support initiatives to tighten migration legislation. Geert Wilders expressed disappointment over the inability to implement plans to close borders for refugees, temporarily provide permits for family reunification, and return refugees to Syria. 'I promised voters a strict migration policy, but you did not support this,' the PVV leader stated.
The Dutch government has suffered a loss due to PVV's decision to leave over disagreements on migration issues. This could lead to changes in the country's political system and affect the further course of government actions in this direction.
