Elite troops of the Ukrainian Armed Forces change the training program for fighters.

The Ministry of Defense has announced that a new program for basic military training has been launched in Ukraine, focusing on psychological resilience. It began on February 10 and lasts for 1.5 months. The total duration of the training is 372 hours, including 41 days for classes, six for rest, and one for administrative matters.
Starting from November 1, 2024, the basic military training program will be shortened to 1.5 months. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has developed a new training program approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrski. The new training courses include the introduction of a 'zero day', strengthening psychological preparation, studying the software 'Kropyva', an extended first aid course, and introducing a 'march' training for soldiers' endurance.
The program also includes shooting exercises with personal weapons at short distances and on speed. For psychological resilience, it is sufficient to watch virtual reality films such as 'The First Fight.'
Deputy Defense Minister Serhii Melnyk noted that the new program is based on the analysis of combat experience from military units and is oriented towards practical skills and psychological resilience.
The basic military training program consists of four main blocks: an introductory course, an individual preparation course, training within the unit, and a comprehensive tactical exercise.
Upon successful completion of the training, soldiers will receive a certificate and a classification according to VOS-100 'Rifleman'. After that, they will take specialized courses according to their positions in the combat units, where they will acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in a specific military specialty.
Starting in September 2025, students of higher education institutions in Ukraine will be required to undergo basic military training. Men suitable for military service cannot opt out of this training; otherwise, they may be expelled from the educational institution.
Currently, military personnel with a master's degree and sufficient experience can hold officer positions without completing additional courses.
