Ukrainian Soldier Spent a Day in a Trench with Russians: How He Managed to Survive.

In July 2022, volunteer Vasyl, who serves in the 704th Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Regiment, went to defend Ukraine. His incredible rescue story at the front is told by «Suspilne».
Last March, Vasyl and his three comrades went on a mission to the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
«After we entered the position, shelling started - mortars and drones. We still continued to carry out the task, even when about 15 drones flew over», said the flamethrower.
During the battle, the group commander was wounded, and he entrusted Vasyl to take responsibility and lead the group. After Vasyl failed to save the commander, he was left alone in the hole, hiding from the Russian military.
Vasyl managed to exit the hole, but his radio was blocked, and he received several concussions. He thought he would never be rescued, but then he heard Russian voices that addressed him and learned that he was a fighter from Robotyne. After a brief conversation, Vasyl continued his path to safety.
Later, Vasyl learned that the Russians he met during his rescue were mercenaries of the PMC «Wagner». He was able to trick them into thinking he was a Russian fighter and managed to escape.
Other Russians conducted a special operation for him, from which Vasyl managed to emerge alive. He continues to fight for his country.
This is yet another story of the courage and dedication of Ukrainian defenders at the front.
