How to Save Venice from Flooding: Italy Has a New Plan.

Over the last century, the city of Venice has sunk 25 cm, while sea levels have risen by 30 cm, posing a serious threat to residents. Tides have become higher and more frequent due to climate change, leading to the need for effective protection measures.
The Italian government is spending significant funds to build barriers to prevent flooding, and the idea of 'raising' the city using special technology that could provide the city with 'rest' for several decades is also being considered.
What is the city's protection status today?
Currently, the main means of protecting the city is the special MOSE barriers, which 'rise' from the seabed during extremely high tides to protect the lagoon from the Adriatic. Climate change has forced a rapid search for solutions to a problem that has become increasingly threatening for the city and its residents.
Research shows that without additional measures, Venice could be completely flooded by 2150, highlighting the urgent need for a quick and effective response to the issue.
